The deadline is today to offer an opinion on how lawmakers can invest federal dollars in Valley communities.

Virginia U-S Senator Tim Kaine is accepting requests through the end of the day for earmarked funding to benefit local community projects.

Kaine explained that as Congress divides up the money, he wants to hear from folks about how lawmakers can provide help for their communities.

So far, three million dollars in Congressionally Directed Spending has been allocated for Phase 1 construction of the Shenandoah Rail Trail.
