HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – A man wanted for arrest was taken into custody late Monday night following a standoff in Harrisonburg.

The Harrisonburg Police Department (HPD) received information on April 21 that the wanted individual, Sean A. Barb, 38, of Harrisonburg, was on location at a home on Ridgeville Lane. Barb was wanted out of Rockingham County for three Circuit Court Capiases. His original charges included two counts of manufacturing-controlled substances and one count of gang participation.

According to a press release, when HPD officers arrived at the home to serve the warrant, Barb barricaded himself with a firearm in the basement of the residence. Officers continued to give Barb commands to come out, but he refused to comply. The HPD Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) team and the Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT) were then deployed to the scene. Officers maintained communication with Barb in an effort to get him to exit the residence peacefully.

The Harrisonburg-Rockingham Emergency Communication Center (ECC) issued a shelter-in-place order at approximately 9:30 p.m. directed at the affected neighborhood and nearby streets.

Barb was safely removed from the home after approximately three hours and placed under arrest.

He was charged with the following: 19.2-232: Capias of Circuit Court x3
