HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – The Secret Lair Comics will host their Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) event on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Secret Lair Comics is located on 1854 East Market Street, Suite 105, Harrisonburg, VA.

FCBD is an annual event put on by the comic book industry to grow readership and promote literacy. Along with giving out free comics there will be comic creator guests such as, Matthew Roberts (Creature from the Black Lagoon, Manifest Destiny, Invincible) and CL Zeno (Drunk Mom, Avandrus Theory). Additionally, the Staunton Wall Crawler (aka Staunton Spider-Man) will be appearing along with Star Wars cosplayer Ron Solo.

Featured creator guest Matthew Roberts is a comic book artist best known for co-creating Manifest Destiny for Image Comics. His most recent work was Universal Monsters Creature from the Black Lagoon from Skybound Comics. He’s also worked with Robert Kirkman on Invincible and Battle Pope. Matthew has also worked for several other publishers and does a decent amount of cover work as well. 

C.L. Zeno is a LA native now residing in Richmond, VA. His works include Drunk Mom, Avandrus Theory, amongst others. His current project The Enchanted Circus of Wonder was just named a Kickstarter “Project We Love.”

The event also gives back to the community. This year’s charity is the RHSPCA, and those who make a donation of money or supplies, will be able to get extra FCBD comics. This is also a family friendly, all-ages event, to encourage kids to get into reading.
