HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – The Harrisonburg City School Board approved the motion to accept the Vine Street option with redistricting attendance zones during last night’s meeting.

The Vine Street option will redistrict approximately 80 students in the Vine Street area from Waterman Elementary School to Bluestone Elementary to address overcrowding at Waterman.

Andrew Kohen filed the motion, and the reasoning is due to reading communications he has had with the public.

“There’s going to be some dis-accommodation that happens no matter which of the options we choose,” said Kohen. “I guess I made the motion that I did because I think that that would by all reckoning minimize the displeasure of this accommodation.”

Kristen Loflin seconded the motion, and the vote passed unanimously.
