HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – The Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA (RHSPCA) will bring adoptable pets to the Harrisonburg PetSmart, 1671 E Market St., Harrisonburg, VA for PetSmart Charities® National Adoption Week, taking place March 24 – 30, 2025. RHSPCA aims to find homes for 50 pets during the event.

According to a press release, the partnership between PetSmart and RHSPCA has facilitated 69 adoptions since 2024. Pets like Archie and Alphie found their forever home at an adoption event at PetSmart. Archie and Alphie were littermates who came into the care of the RHSPCA as small kittens. They were lucky enough to be adopted together thanks to the PetSmart adoption center.

PetSmart Charities connects adoption partners such as RHSPCA with local PetSmart stores to bring adoptable pets in for adoption events and meet and greets. These include pets of all ages, breeds, temperaments, and energy levels. Staff and volunteers are available to help make ideal matches considering lifestyle and other preferences such as energy levels, personalities, sizes, etc.

“The grant from PetSmart Charities will allow the RHSPCA to extend our reach and enable us to help Pets & People. We are thrilled to have a permanent, satellite adoption center at PetSmart in Harrisonburg,” said Huck Nawaz, Executive Director, Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA. “We’re celebrating by offering fee waived cat adoptions at the PetSmart location during PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week.”

The adoption event will take place Monday – Friday, March 24-28, on site at PetSmart from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30p.m. and Saturday, March 29, on site at PetSmart from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Harrisonburg PetSmart is located at 1671 E Market St., Harrisonburg, Virginia.
