HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg Planning Commission voted during last night’s meeting to approve the “Capital Improvements Plan” for the next five years.

The 200-page plan includes approximately 6 million dollars for structural and mechanical repairs at Massanutten Technical Center.

The CIP also includes 2.5 million dollars to buy land within the next two years for a 7th elementary school to accommodate an influx of students likely to enter the community with new, recently approved housing developments on the way.

The plan lists 130 million dollars in funding available for top priority projects that are estimated to total around 180-million dollars, leaving 50 million funding dollars not yet available.
