HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – A bus driver for Harrisonburg City Transit is currently on administrative leave after he was arrested last month on sexual abuse charges.

According to online records, 69-year-old male Howard W. Feldmeier Jr. of McGaheysville, VA was arrested on January 21st after he was indicted by a Rockingham County Circuit Court grand jury on four felony charges, including two counts of aggravated sexual battery with a child under 13 years old. The investigation originated from a complaint made by a family member.

“The city is aware of these allegations against the Harrisonburg Department of Public Transportation transit driver,” said Harrisonburg Communications Director Mike Parks. “Upon becoming aware of those allegations, we immediately placed the individual on administrative leave pending the conclusion of his legal case. He has not driven an HDTP bus since we became aware of those allegations in January.”

Feldmeier has a hearing scheduled for February 18th to set either a plea date or a trial date.
