STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — The former chair of the Staunton City School Board has been indicted on an embezzlement charge.
According to online records, a Staunton Circuit Court grand jury returned two felony indictments Tuesday against Natasha McCurdy charging her with embezzlement of over a thousand dollars and conducting an unlawful transaction.
She was not present at the hearing, so a capias was issued.
McCurdy resigned as school board chair during a special meeting on May 1st after Staunton Police named her and her twin sister, Felicia Neil as suspects in an alleged embezzlement investigation.
Back in February of last year, Ware Elementary School PTA members found several thousand dollars missing from the PTA bank account.
