Mary Ann Ruysser Walsh, 82, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Sunnyside Retirement Community.

She was born on April 1 ,1942, in Kansas City, Missouri, and was a daughter of the late Francis Joseph and Ann Marie Comrad Ruysser. On June 6, 1964, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Leonard Walsh, who preceded her in death on January 12, 2010. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, John A. Hornick and granddaughter, Grace Isabella Hornick.

She graduated from Bishop Miege High School in the Kansas City area. Later in life she went on to continue her education at James Madison University where she received a Bachelors of independent study in computer graphics. Beyond her professional life, Mary Ann was also an accomplished artist, a dedicated wife, a loving mother and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She also enjoyed gardening, teaching and most importantly spending quality time with her family and grandchildren.

Mary Ann is survived by a son, Christopher Patrick Walsh and Germaine Nguyen of Costa Mesa, California; three daughters, Julia Elise Walsh Hornick, Elizabeth Ann “Lisa” Walsh and Ann Michelle and husband, Jay Brown, all of Harrisonburg; four grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Thornhill and husband, Clark, Ryan Edward Boloix, Maya Brown and Ava Brown; great-granddaughter, Ella Rose Thornhill; Germaine’s daughters, Natasha and Chantal Vo of California.

Mary Ann thoroughly enjoyed traveling and vacationing with Bob and her family. She especially loved visiting Emerald Isle, NC, Costa Rica, Hawaii and Europe. In her spare time, Mary Ann had a particular interest in genealogy and also actively participated with the JMU Life Long Learning Program. Mary Ann was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was also the owner of Walsh Grafx, which was a full-service print and electronic media communications firm.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Silvio Kabrera officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
