HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – UPDATE (5:00 PM) – Water has been restored to this area and all water conservation measures can cease.

UPDATE: (12:30 PM) Crews continue working to restore water service to Harrisonburg and western Rockingham County following this morning’s watermain break in the Hinton area.

City Communications Director Mike Parks says officials first received reports of the break at 4:30 this morning and have yet to determine the exact cause for the rupture that has halted water service to South Main Street in the City as well as areas west of the pump station at Dale Enterprise.

“We have a waterline that comes down from the mountains to the city,” Parks said. “Then we have another that comes back from the water treatment plant back up and serves customers between here and Riven Rock Park. That’s where the break is.”

Parks says there is a possibility service could be restored early Monday (4/13) afternoon, but until then, residents in the Dale Enterprise area, in particular, are asked to conserve water until further notice.
