ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Rockingham County School Board approved a budget amendment to the Fiscal Year 2026-27 operating budget to reflect the final state revenue projections included in the approved Virginia state budget.

Chief Finance and Operations Officer Justin Moyers broke down the numbers during last night’s meeting.

“Based on the additional state revenue that we’re going to receive, I would like to ask you for a budget amendment of $2,607,909, and that money will be applied towards the 4% raise that the state has put in their budget for next year,” said Moyers.

Chairperson Sara Horst added that she supports this amendment due to not being happy with the 2 percent raise when the board originally approved the budget in March and is pleased to have 4 percent now.
