DAYTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — Rockingham County Department of Fire and Rescue held a ribbon cutting ceremony today, June 26, 2026, to celebrate the opening of Emergency Response Station 14 located at 15 Koogler Lane in Dayton, VA. 

Chief Jeremy Holloway said during the ceremony that the station started running calls on Monday, June 22, 2026.

As of this morning at 6:00 AM, they have ran 16 calls this week in the Dayton Response District. 

“It’s already started to make an impact to the community and that’s our goal,” said Holloway. “That was the goal when we started looking at this.”

Holloway continued by saying that location was chosen due to response times, the availability of property, and the availability of getting out on the roadways.
