LURAY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Luray Police Department announced the upcoming retirement of Chief C.S. “Bow” Cook, effective July 1, 2026, after 30 years of service to the Town of Luray and the citizens of Page County.

According to an online post, his career started with the Stanley Police Department in 1996 where he served 4 years, at which point he joined the Page County Sheriff’s Office in 2000.

In 2003, he attended the Virginia Forensic Science Academy and was promoted Captain of Investigations overseeing the narcotics division and general investigations.

In 2015, Chief Cook transferred to the Luray Police Department as an Investigator, and in 2016 was offered the position as the Chief of Police.

The Luray Police Department stated in the post that, “throughout all this time, he has worked alongside countless law enforcement officers, first responders, community leaders, organizations, business owners, and residents, helping to strengthen the bonds that have created an invaluable working relationship between the citizens of Luray and those who serve and protect.”
