HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg Police Department (HPD) will begin weekly community walks throughout residential areas of the city on Thursday, July 16, 2026, with the goal of walking every residential street within the next calendar year.  

According to HPD, you may see officers walking up and down your street and knocking on your door when walking through the neighborhoods. 

By doing this, they are hoping to increase their visibility in the community, hear and understand the public safety concerns the community may have, and better prepare to create a community-driven strategic plan.
