HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg Fire Department had a busy night Wednesday as they delivered free Cici’s pizzas across the city and checked fire alarms.
This was the 24th year that HFD fire personnel and volunteers delivered free pizzas while making sure homes had a working smoke alarm.
Lieutenant Erin Stehle says that 328 pizzas were handed out.
Fire Chief Matt Tobia says 50-percent of those who die in house fires have no functioning smoke alarm.
Any Harrisonburg City resident needing assistance with smoke or carbon monoxide alarms can contact the Harrisonburg Fire Department and receive free alarm checks and replacements at any time during the year.
