AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — It is 9 months in jail for the Georgia woman who was arrested following a high-speed chase on Interstate 81 earlier this year.
According to online records, Melissa Mathura pleaded guilty to a pair of charges during a hearing earlier this month in Augusta County Circuit Court.
Those charges include felony eluding and DWI, second offense.
A judge then sentenced the 43-year-old Mathura to 6 years in prison with all but 9 months suspended.
Mathura was arrested after leading authorities on a chase that began during the early morning hours of January 30 in Augusta County.
The chase crossed into Rockbridge County where her vehicle was clocked at speeds exceeding 100 miles-per-hour.
The pursuit ended when authorities deployed tire deflation devices that safely disabled the car near mile-marker 197.
