HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — It appears that former Turner Ashby High School choir director Wesley Dunlap must pay $225,000 to a former student.

According to a court order filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Harrisonburg, Dunlap and the student, only identified as John Doe, agreed to a settlement back on February 9th.

The student filed $100 million lawsuit back in July of 2021 just after the 42-year-old Dunlap pleaded guilty to two counts of an indecent act with a child while in a supervisory capacity and was sentenced to two years in prison.

The original lawsuit had included the Rockingham County School Board, Turner Ashby principal Phil Judd and guidance counselor Sandy King, and while a judge had dismissed them form the lawsuit, yesterday’s order does not waive the rights of the student to file an appeal.
