AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — An Augusta County man is in trouble with law after he was arrested for allegedly trying to coerce and entice an individual that he believed to be a 15-year-old girl for sexual activity but instead met up with an undercover law enforcement officer.

According to documents filed recently in the U-S District Court in Harrisonburg, Russell Thomas Maddox III of Mount Sidney was messaging the undercover officer disguised as a 15-year-old girl from April 30 through May 26 when the two agreed to meet at Hillendale Park in Harrisonburg.

When Maddox arrived, law enforcement officers were there to conduct a traffic stop.

Further investigation of his devices showed that there was enough probable cause to charge the 36-year-old Maddox. He was scheduled to appear in court this afternoon.
