KEEZLETOWN, Va. — Rockingham County Fire officials are investigating what caused a blaze yesterday afternoon that destroyed a home in the Keezletown area.
Chief Jeremy Holloway reports that the call came in at around 2:15 and he said when crews arrived at the home in the 33-hundred block of Minnie Ball Lane, 70 percent of the structure was already engulfed in flames.
Holloway added that one factor that made the fire difficult to extinguish was a lack of accessible water. He said a “tanker task force” was assembled from Elkton, Grottoes, Broadway, and Weyers Cave to relay water onto the site.
Holloway said no injuries were reported but the house was deemed a total loss. It appears to be accidental in nature.
