HARRISONBURG VA: (WSVA) – Despite the weather, the annual free food giveaway is today in Harrisonburg. Food was distributed, on a first come first serve basis, starting at 11 a.m. this morning.
Bucky Berry, organizer of the Brent Berry Food Drive, told WSVA that the roads have been scraped and salt has been applied around the Lucy Simms Center ahead of the event with the ARC of Harrisonburg.
He says that from one until four, or as long as supplies last, folks in the community are welcome to stop by the Simms Center and take any food they need free of charge.
Berry said there will be several thousand pounds of food and milk on hand, adding that no one in the community should go hungry after an extraordinarily successful food drive over the holidays.
