Officials with Sentara R-M-H say they have seen a spike in respiratory illnesses in the post-holiday season.
Dr. Gina Yost, who is the hospital’s Chief Nursing Officer, says that the number of COVID, flu and R-S-V cases are higher in both the emergency room and within the hospital for admitted patients.
She says the first step to being protected is getting vaccinated.

Yost adds that simple things like washing hands, covering a cough and staying away from others when ill are other ways to stop the spread.
