STAUNTON VA:  (WSVA) – An electrical issue was the cause of an apartment fire in Staunton early Christmas morning.
The call came in at around two o’clock in the 500 block of Gooch Street and when crews arrived, they found smoke showing from the rear of the structure, which housed three apartments.


Officials reported the fire originated in the bathroom of the basement apartment.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported but the occupants of the basement apartment will be temporarily displaced due to the damage to the bathroom.
Officials also stated that there were no working smoke alarms in the basement apartment and remind folks to always make sure that smoke detectors are in working order.
