HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Several Virginia communities are being recognized as some of the best places in the country to retire.

A new ranking from the U.S. News and World Report highlighted six Virginia cities among the nation’s top retirement destinations.

Harrisonburg ranked third among the top Virginia communities while Staunton landed sixth on the list.

Lynchburg was rated the best place to retire in the Commonwealth.

The publication considered factors such as affordability, quality of life, health care access, and amenities that appeal to retirees.

The recognition comes as many smaller cities continue attracting retirees looking for lower costs and a slower pace of life.
