HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Dogs and cats of all ages, breeds and sizes, and even small critters are available through area animal rescues and shelters, as well as opportunities to help homeless animals through foster programs, donations and help with fundraisers and other family-friendly activities. Contact Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA or a rescue near you to learn more.
Throughout November, the RHSPCA is highlighting animals who have been waiting a little longer to find their forever homes.

6 Years Old | 62 Pounds | Male | Coonhound | 145+ Days in the RHSPCA’s Care
Duffy is a six-year-old black-and-white Coonhound with a goofy, talkative personality. He enjoys exploring the world with his nose, running around the yard, and playing with his favorite toys. Duffy has reportedly done well with some dogs in the past and may be able to live with another dog following slow introductions. His history with cats is unknown.
Duffy has displayed resource guarding behaviors around food and toys and would benefit from a patient adopter who can provide appropriate management and structure. A home with children ages 13 and older may be the best fit. After more than 145 days in our care, Duffy is hoping to find a family who will give him the love, understanding, and time he needs to settle into his new home.

13 Years Old | Male | 137+ Days in the RHSPCA’s Care
Meet Mister Kisses, a sweet 13-year-old senior cat who has been waiting more than 137 days to find his next home. This affectionate gentleman would make an excellent companion for someone looking for a loving feline friend. Mister Kisses has plenty of love to give and is hoping to spend his golden years with a family of his own.
As part of the RHSPCA’s Seniors for Seniors Adoption Program, Mister Kisses qualifies for a waived adoption fee when adopted by an eligible senior member of our community.
