BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – Lucio Bianchi scored twice in the first half as the Bridgewater College men’s soccer team battled Guilford to a 2-2 draw Wednesday afternoon, finishing with a 14-10 advantage in shots and an 11-5 edge in shots on goal.

How It Happened
• Guilford struck first in the eighth minute when Sebastian Urgiles scored off an assist from Dani Santos. Bridgewater answered through Bianchi, who entered in the 21st minute and needed less than three minutes to make an impact. After Sam Bayer stopped David Bynum’s shot, Bianchi found the net in the 23rd minute to level the match.
• Bianchi struck again in the 29th minute, finishing off an assist from Riley Queen to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead. The advantage lasted just 72 seconds before Urgiles scored his second goal off an assist from Cruz Fernandez Madero. Bianchi continued threatening, forcing two more saves before halftime as BC entered the break tied 2-2 with a 6-4 edge in shots.
• Both teams searched for a breakthrough after halftime. Guilford’s defense turned away Queen’s attempt in the 61st minute before Zane Kowalski denied Urgiles in the 65th and Isaac Garbia in the 69th. Trey Widrick tested Bayer in the 70th minute as Bridgewater pushed to regain the lead.
• The Eagles generated the match’s final five shots but could not find the winner. Caleb Malekzadeh had an attempt stopped by the Guilford defense in the 76th minute, and Widrick forced another save less than a minute later. Bayer denied Braxton Sebastian on a wicket shot attempt in the 88th minute before stopping Widrick with 25 seconds remaining to keep the score even.
Match Notes
• Bianchi led Bridgewater with two goals on six shots, including four on target. Widrick put all three of his attempts on goal, while Queen recorded an assist and Kowalski made two saves.
• Urgiles scored both Guilford goals and finished with three shots on target. Bayer recorded seven saves, with the Quakers adding two team saves.
• Bridgewater outshot Guilford 14-10 and more than doubled the visitors’ shots on goal, 11-5. The Eagles also held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
