HARRISONBURG, Va. (EMU Athletics) – After a weekend away, the Royals returned home Wednesday night for a matchup against #12 Mary Washington.
The Eagles played a big first half, scoring four goals, while the Royals stood their ground in the second half, only conceding two goals as UMW picked up a 6-0 win.

Highlights
• Despite a good start by EMU, the Eagles managed to score their first goal of the night in the sixth minute. The Eagles kept up the momentum and managed to score three more goals before the end of the first half. Mary Washington’s lead could have certainly been bigger going into the second half, however, but EMU’s goalkeeper, C.J. Jefferson had an outstanding performance, registering seven saves for the Royals.
• EMU started the second half with high energy and intensity. The efforts proved successful as EMU’s forward, Emma Swarm, managed to take the Royals’ first shot on goal of the night in the 59th minute of the match. Not even a minute later, Addison Fornadel registered the second and last shot of the match for EMU. Unfortunately, both attempts were saved by the Eagles’ goalkeeper.
• EMU’s high intensity proved to be successful until the 64th minute, when the Eagles scored their fifth goal of the match. Mary Washington’s sixth and last goal of the match came in the 73rd minute to wrap up the game.
• Gabi Dewey came in to protect the Royals’ net for the second half and registered four crucial saves.
