HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — A major, long-term construction project along Port Republic Road is now underway in the City of Harrisonburg, impacting traffic.
On Tuesday, barriers were placed in preparation for work that will take place between Bradley and Bluestone Drives, near the area of Interstate 81 close to James Madison University, over the next two years.
While pedestrian access will be maintained, authorities say drivers should expect periodic lane reductions in the area, including times when traffic is reduced to a single lane.
These impacts may also affect travel times on bus routes, particularly the Black, Green, and Pink Lines.
Operations are scheduled to continue 7am to 7pm each weekday through sometime in 2028.
