HARRISONBURG, Va. (EMU Athletics) – The Royals field hockey squad played in front of a home crowd on Wednesday, welcoming in the Eagles of Juniata College.

EMU’s defense played well, including a stellar performance from first-year keeper Teresa Green, but the Royals offense couldn’t find its footing as JC left Harrisonburg with a 3-0 win.

Highlights
• Green got off to a hot start, picking up six saves in the opening frame, along with two defensive saves from Shay Gough, as the teams were scoreless after one.
• She added six more saves to start the second, but the Eagles broke through after a scrum in front of the net resulted in a ball finding the back of the cage. Camryn Lohr picked up EMU’s first shot of the game at the 24:02 mark, but it was blocked and Juniata took a 1-0 lead to the half.
• Juniata added an insurance goal in the third quarter and their final goal on a penalty stroke in the fourth. EMU’s final shot came off the stick of Joni Wiederman in the game’s final seconds, but it sailed wide.
