HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Ice cream lovers across Central Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley can support pediatric patients while enjoying a sweet treat during Dairy Queen’s annual Miracle Treat Day on Thursday, July 30.

Participating Dairy Queen locations will donate $1 from every Blizzard Treat sold to UVA Health Children’s as part of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraiser.

The proceeds will help provide resources and support for children receiving care at UVA Health Children’s and their families. Donations help fund specially designed medical equipment for pediatric patients, lodging assistance, food and gas cards for families traveling for treatment, and programs offered by the hospital’s child life team.

The child life team provides services that help make hospital stays less stressful for children, including maintaining playrooms within the hospital and helping young patients understand their diagnoses and medical care through age-appropriate education and activities.
