RICHMOND, VA (Rocktown Now) — Nine smaller Virginia airports will receive FAA funding to help improve their facilities.
Virginia U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine announced nearly six million dollars in grant funding for the airports yesterday.
The biggest grant will go to the Virginia Tech-Montgomery Regional Airport Authority for taxiway and apron improvements.
Grants will also go to airports in Hampton Roads, Farmville and Dinwiddie County.
Warner stated the grants are part of a broader 76-million dollar investment of federal funds to support transportation projects designed to expand passenger rail service, reduce traffic congestion, and strengthen Virginia’s infrastructure.
