HARRISONBURG, Va. — James Madison University Football is going bowling after all.

The college football Bowl Alliance made the official announcement yesterday that the 11-1 Dukes will be scheduled to play in a bowl game after not enough eligible teams reached the required six wins for inclusion.

The school is in the final year of a mandatory two-year ineligibility window as it completes the transition to college football’s highest division.

This will be JMU’s first bowl appearance in school history.

It comes in spite of the NCAA’s recent decision to deny an eligibility waiver for the team, which it applied for on grounds of exceeded expectations.
