ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Rockingham County School Superintendent Dr. Larry Shifflett discussed the school board’s annual administrative retreat the week after the end of the 2025-26 school year during last night’s meeting. 

Shifflett said a portion of the retreat was reflecting on the past school year, and the remainder was dedicated to preparing for the next year. 

“The school year closes, and a week later, we’re thinking about next year. So just to give you a sense of our thought process,” said Dr. Shifflett.

Shifflett continued by saying they invested the majority of their time talking about using assessment data to inform their instructional practices.
