BEDFORD COUNTY VA: (WSVA) -The U-S Forest Service says that the Matts Creek Fire in northern Bedford County is mostly contained following the rains earlier this week, and that all threats to the population have been mitigated.
According to the latest Forest Service reports from yesterday afternoon, the wildfire is now 84 percent contained. Officials say it consumed more than 11-thousand acres of national forest since taking off on November 16th.
The fire is reportedly the largest ever in Bedford County.
The Forest Service said it’s thankful for no serious injuries to firefighters or community members, and no loss of homes.
