HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg City School Board approved the requested school operating fund and nutrition fund budget reallocation during last night’s meeting.

The request is to transfer funds within the School Operating Fund from the Instruction function totaling $949,822.38, and from the Transportation function totaling $325,000 to be moved into functions such as Operation and Maintenance, Technology and Admin, Attendance and Health.

“This is our customary end-of-year request to reallocate funds,” said Executive Director of Finance Daniel Kirwan. “Instead of new funding, it’s just shifting between functions which requires your approval.”

The request also transfers funds within the Nutrition Fund from the Nutrition function totaling $30,000 into the Nutrition Technology fund to support implementation of the new point of sale system at each school.
