MADISON, Va – (WSVA) – The Quaker Run fire in Madison County is now 100 percent contained.

Officials with Shenandoah National Park made that announcement Friday afternoon.

Nearly four thousand acres have been charred from the wildfire.

Some of the crews assigned to the Quaker Run Fire will continue to patrol and repair trails, roads and other areas as needed. Other crew members have been sent to assist with the wildfire on Afton mountain.

The good news is that clouds and moderate humidity are expected this afternoon and that will reduce the potential for reburn or escape.

Shenandoah National Park, along with many other localities in the valley, have implemented a complete fire ban and trail closures remain in effect.
