STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — A Staunton man has been arrested and charged with 21 counts of knowingly possessing and distributing child pornography. 

Sergeant Christopher Ammons reports that 42-year-old Marcus D. Lane Jr. of Staunton was arrested on May 5, 2026, as part of a joint investigation involving the Staunton Police Department and the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.  

Sergeant Christopher Ammons reports that the Staunton Police Department received a referral through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in April 2026. 

The investigation is ongoing.  

Lane is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
