Folks near Stuarts Draft reported several aftershocks yesterday, a full week after an initial earthquake in the area caused loud, “explosion-like” sounds.
According to a U-S Geological Survey map where people can report quakes and other earth-shifting events, those aftershocks were felt around 8:10 yesterday morning across most of Augusta County.
Residents in Stuarts Draft as well as Staunton, Waynesboro and Fishersville reported shaking in their communities. The Geological Survey map shows reports of tremors as far south as Saint Mary’s River near the Nelson County line.
Last Sunday’s quake was the second in Augusta County in 12 years.
