STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — A significant closure is coming up later this week as part of the I-81 widening project near Staunton.

Brian Baer from the Virginia Department of Transportation says work will take place Saturday night through Sunday morning.

“In Augusta County, between mile marker 220 and 226, southbound lanes of I-81 will be closed from Exit 225 to Exit 222, from 8pm Saturday the 18th through Sunday morning at about 7.”

Baer adds drivers should follow the posted detour during the closure.
