HARRISONBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) – James Madison softball completed a three-game Sun Belt Conference sweep of Louisiana on Sunday afternoon, downing the Ragin’ Cajuns 15-9 at Veterans Memorial Park.

JMU (19-20, 7-8 Sun Belt) finished with 15 runs on 12 hits, while Louisiana (22-21, 5-10 Sun Belt) scored nine runs on 10 hits with two errors.

Kendra Lewis, Cali Legzdin, and Lili Smith launched home runs to lead the Dukes’ offense, as Lewis drove in a team-high three runs. Emily LeGrand went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, while Madison Edwards finished 2-for-4 and scoring four runs.

Payton List got the win in the circle, pitching 3.0 innings. Taylor Johnson provided 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out a batter.

How It Happened
• Brooke Otto delivered an RBI single to plate Haley Hart in the first to give UL a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the inning, a bases-loaded hit by pitch evened the score at 1-1.
• The Cajuns answered with a three-spot in the top of the second, with Haley Hart lifting a two-run homer to put the visitors up 4-1.
• The Dukes put up nine runs in the bottom of the third to take a commanding 10-4 lead. A two-RBI triple from Kylee Gleason and a two-run homer off the bat of Lewis were the big hits for JMU in the frame.
• Legzdin hit a two-run home run to center in the bottom of the fourth to extend the Dukes’ lead to 12-4. Lili Smith added to the scoring with the first home run of her career, putting JMU ahead 13-4.
• Louisiana extended the game with five runs in the fifth, which included a grand slam off the bat of Lily Knox. A RBI single from Cecilia Vazquez trimmed UL’s deficit to 13-9 going to the fifth.
• Lewis added another RBI knock, and LeGrand drove in the final run with a double to seal the 15-9 victory.

The Dukes head to Washington, D.C., for a midweek doubleheader against Georgetown on Wednesday, April 15, with game one slated for 2:30 p.m.
