CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va – A Suffolk man is in custody following an attempted abduction Wednesday night at the University of Virginia.

Charlottesville Police Chief Michael Kochis reports that his department received a call shortly after 9:30 pm regarding a disorder in the 800 block of Cabell Avenue.

The disorder resulted in multiple vehicles and trees being struck by a suspect’s vehicle. Officers responded to the area and located a female victim who reported that an unknown male attempted to abduct her. The victim was treated for injuries at UVA medical center and is currently in stable condition.

Kochis said the suspect was quickly identified as 40-year-old James Robert Allen, who was apprehended just after noon Thursday in Louisa County.

He is charged with Strangulation as well as abduction and is being held without bond.

The victim, who is a U-V-A student, is currently in stable condition at U-V-A Hospital.
