STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — Staunton Fire and Rescue responded to a late-night structure fire on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 10:20 PM at a single-family residence located at 661 Gloria Place.

According to an online post, Engine-1 arrived on scene to find a single-story residence with fire visible from the rear of the home. Crews quickly initiated an aggressive fire attack while simultaneously conducting a search of the residence for occupants. It was later confirmed that the home was vacant at the time of the incident.

The fire was brought under control at approximately 10:42 PM. Firefighters remained on the scene until about 12:34 AM today, March 20, 2026, performing salvage and overhaul operations to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

Augusta County Fire-Rescue Station-10 assisted in the firefighting efforts as Swoope Volunteer Fire Company and Verona Volunteer Fire Company filled quarters at both city fire stations.
