HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Anicira Veterinary Center will host the first ever Mutt Strut 5K, a dog-friendly event through Harrisonburg’s Friendly City Trail and Hillandale Park. The event will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, starting at 9:00 AM.

Every dog participant will receive a special race bandana, and runners and walkers without pets are welcome. 100% of race proceeds benefit Anicira Veterinary Center, helping pet families facing medical uncertainties when their pets become sick or injured.

“Through Mutt Strut, our community can make a tangible difference for families facing unexpected veterinary health emergencies,” said Mary Golden Hughes, Director of Advancement at Anicira Veterinary Center in a release. “By reducing financial barriers – where we can and when we can – Anicira ensures that bonded pet families can stay together, happier and healthier, while receiving high-quality, comprehensive, and compassionate care. Events like Mutt Strut allow us to extend our nonprofit mission to end animal suffering and make veterinary care accessible to beloved pets in our community.”

All dogs must be on a non-retractable leash, and multiple water stops will be available for humans and pets.
