SHENANDOAH COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Major delays are coming this weekend for southbound interstate travelers in Shenandoah County.

The Virginia Department of Transportation’s Brian Baer reports that Southbound I-81 at Woodstock is scheduled to be closed from 6pm Saturday March 21st through about 9am Sunday March 22nd for bridge repairs.

Traffic will detour onto Route 11 at the Toms Brook exit. Traffic impacts are expected on I-81, Route 11, and other roadways, not only in northern Shenandoah County, but also in Frederick, Warren, and Page Counties.

Baer adds that flaggers will be guiding traffic on various primary and secondary roads throughout the region during daytime hours, where crews will be doing pipe replacement, ditch work, tree removal, shoulder repairs, pavement patching, and brush cutting.
