PAGE COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — It is 15 months in jail for a Page County woman convicted of animal cruelty in the death of her dog.

According to online records, Sarah Beth Maiden was sentenced to 5 years in jail during a hearing this afternoon, but a circuit court judge suspended 3 years and 9 months of that sentence. Maiden will also serve 3 years of supervised probation.

Maiden was arrested back in October of 2024 after sheriff’s deputies conducted an animal welfare check at her home on Sixth Street in the town of Shenandoah and found her German Shephard, Rosie, malnourished and dehydrated. The dog was eventually euthanized.

A jury found Maiden guilty of torturing an animal causing death during a trial in September.
