STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Staunton man charged in a shooting on Labor Day weekend will have a date with a grand jury.
Online records indicated that all eight charges against Charles Ray Smith were certified to a circuit court grand jury during a preliminary hearing Thursday in Staunton General District Court.
Among the charges he faces include attempted second-degree murder and aggravated malicious wounding.
The incident happened on Saturday morning, August 30th in the 100 block of Gray Avenue.
When police arrived, one man was hospitalized with injuries.
Smith had allegedly fled the scene before officers arrived but he was taken into custody later that day by the Norfolk Police Department.
