STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) – The City of Staunton is warning residents a scam targeting those who recently submitted applications to the Planning Commission or Historic Preservation Commission.
Scammers are pulling contact information from publicly available agenda packets and sending fake email invoices requesting payment.
Officials emphasize that all fees are collected at the time an application is submitted, and Community Development will never send follow-up invoices requesting additional payment by email.
Anyone with questions should contact the City of Staunton’s Community Development department at 540-332-3862.
