HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – James Madison University has been named an “Innovative and Economic Prosperity University” by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities.

The national designation recognizes public universities that collaborate with state partners to support economic development through various activities, including innovation and entrepreneurship, talent and workforce development, and community engagement.

JMU is now one of just 94 higher education institutions to have earned the honor for producing graduates who are both civically minded and able to achieve desired career goals, for securing 30-million dollars in funding for research and public service outreach, and for the College of Education’s launch of the first Lab School in the Commonwealth.
