HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – Sentara RMH Medical Center has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on safe patient care.
Dr. Robert Garwood, the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer commented that hospitals with an “A” grade are known for improving patient outcomes such as reduced length of stay and mortality rates.
“We’re incredibly proud to receive this award,” Dr. Garwood said. “It demonstrates our excellence across all parts of our hospital – the Emergency Room, Operating Room, and our patient floors – and providing excellent quality care for our community.”
Sentara RMH received the top rating after Leapfrog’s review of more than 100 data points including infection prevention, surgical outcomes, Intensive Care Unit staffing, and overall patient experience.
The hospital is one of just nine Sentara hospitals to earn an “A” in the organization’s fall 2025 report.
