An attorney for the suspected “Shopping Cart Killer” is asking a judge to postpone an upcoming trial because his client hasn’t received the results of a mental health evaluation.

Last week, reports show that attorney Louis Nagy filed a motion to delay the start of the trial, set for August 28th, until a doctor can issue a “written report” about Anthony Eugene Robinson’s mental state.

The 36-year-old is being tried separately on two counts of first-degree murder. He’s accused of murdering 54-year-old Harrisonburg resident Beth Redmon and 39-year-old Tonia Smith of Charlottesville in November 2021, before abandoning their bodies in shopping carts.
