HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – The Harrisonburg Planning Commission has paved the way for new affordable housing to be built on Reservoir Street.
In August, the City Council voted to sell city property at 2410 Reservoir Street to the Valley Housing Trust for 74-thousand 6-hundred dollars to allow construction of five affordable housing units pending financing and a rezoning from “medium density” to “high density residential.”
The Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval for that rezoning at last night’s meeting.
City Council will pick up the issue at their meeting November 12th.
The new housing is intended to be affordable for households at 80 percent of the Area Median Income.
